President George W. Bush, during his State of the Union Address in January of this year, outlined his administrations goals. One of these goals is to cut down the dependency of the United States on foreign oil. He dubbed it the “Twenty in Ten” which is a reduction of twenty percent on gasoline consumption over the next ten years.

Aside from urging the Congress to enact laws, the President also showed his dedication to the energy independence goal for the country by visiting facilities where developments are made in the alternative fuel industry. Recently, the president visited a General Motors assembly plant in Fairfax and he also did take time to drop by Ford’s assembly plant in Kansas City where he toured the hybrid vehicle assembly and addressed the workers.
Both the said facilities by the two biggest car manufacturers in the United States are producing hybrid vehicles which are geared towards fuel economy. These facilities are also making good steps forward in the development of green cars like flex fuel vehicles which can run on E85 fuel which is a combination of bio-ethanol and conventional gasoline. The vehicle being produced and developed at these facilities are even more fuel efficient than Volvo cars equipped with Volvo performance chips.

Before it goes on sale this summer, General Motors will first showcase the HUMMER H3 Alpha at the forthcoming 2007 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). The H3 Alpha is the second model that will join HUMMER’s Alpha model series.

The 5.3L engine greatly broadens the H3’s towing capability.” said Christopher Meagher, Assistant Chief Engineer of small-block V-8 truck engines.
According to Steve Shannon, GM’s general manager for Buick, the brand is not embarrassed by its appeal to a demographic that is referred to as simply as “grown-ups”. He also added, “They pay cash, they’re not credit challenged. So these are virtuous, wonderful consumers. They can appreciate nicer things, they can afford nicer things.” Plus many of them would likely appreciate a little more power under the hood.
“All of the powertrain options in the H3 lineup deliver performance suited to different driving styles and needs. But when it comes to certain tasks such as towing, there is sometimes no substitute for a V-8 engine.” he added.
The running belt is tensioned over the running deck with two rollers which are situated at each end of the running deck. The running decks are absorbent to reduce the impact on your joints and higher priced treadmills have higher quality elastomers which reduce the stress even further. Remember to look at the size of the running deck when purchasing a treadmill, taller people will require a longer deck. People intending on using their treadmill for running may also benefit from a larger running area.
