Kendo - general background

Filed under: New Car Models — Administrator @ 9:45 am

A 170 year old electrical technology, called variable switched reluctance (VSR) motors was resurrected in the 1980s with the advent of electronic controllers. The Texas based Le Tiurneau.inc has developed a wheeled front end loader for mining work which use large horsepower VSR motors for its wheel drives. Basically, a VSR motor comprises a rotor and a stator with a coil winding in the stator. The rotor, which consists of a laminated permeable material with teeth, is a passive device with no coil winding or permanent magnets.

Kenjutsu is an ancient martial art, dating back to before 1590, followed by Kendo, which had more intellectual and philosophical characteristics. Kenjutsu became modern Kendo, which has developed a sport-oriented nature that still embodies many of the traditional values.

The stator typically consists of slots containing a series of coil winding, the energization of which is electronically switched to generate a moving field. When one stator coil is set on, a magnetic flux path is generated around the coil and the rotor. The rotor experiences a torque and is moved in the line with the energized coils, minimizing the flux path. with the approximate switching and energization of the stator coils, the rotor can be encouraged to rotate at any desired torque and speed.

History:

The aim of Kendo is for kendoka to react intuitively, with fluency and elegance. Speed and body movement are of the utmost importance in the delivery of a skillful technique. Yet the aim is not to be the first one to score a point or to win in the Kendo practice, but to work together, striving towards good technique, giving and taking along the way. Only in competitions should this philosophical aim be different.

Aim of Kendo:

While Kendo is very much a modern art that has been influenced by Kenjutsu, its roots can be traced back as far as AD 789, through the history of the art of the sword which is linked inextricably to the history of ancient Japan. It was at this time that Komutachi, the sword exercise, was introduced as in instruction for the sons of the kuge (noblemen) in the city of Nara, then the capital of Japan.

On first learning Kendo, or any other martial, it is very important to tread slowly. It is very essential to tread slowly because it is easy when people wear armour so suddenly to feel they can dive in regardless, without appreciating the need for continual practice to develop the skills to a standard acceptable in the art. It is important not only to demonstrate proficiency in the art but to ensure safe practice, both for an individual and his/her partner.

Vauxhall Cars History

Filed under: Car Dealerships — Administrator @ 1:29 am

Vauxhall Motors was bought by General Motors in 1925 for 2.5 million $. And from that year Vauxhall was influenced by American cars and with Ford (that was Vauxhall’s main competitor) influenced the style of European car manufacturers.

From the 70’s, many of company models were designed and built in partnership with Opel in Germany (Adam Opel GmbH- known as Opel is an automobile manufacturer based in Germany). Models like Chevette, Cavalier and Carlton were basically restyled versions of the Kadett, Ascona and Rekord. The Viceroy was a simply new version of Opel Commodore imported from Germany.
And that was the beginning for the “Opelisation” of Vauxhall. General Motors policy was that Vauxhall to be rebadged Opels, designed and developed in Russelsheim with much less help from Luton.

The Luton plant closed in 2000, but production still continues at the plant in Ellesmere Port. Despite already meeting efficiency targets, Vauxhall has been told to further improve its productivity.

In 70’s and 80’s General Motors sold duplicate cars: Opel and Vauxhall alongside each other. General Motors Europe then began to standardize model names across both brands in early 90’s. Almost all Vaxhall’s models now have the same names as those of Opel (the exception is VX220 sold by Opel as Speedstar).

The North American automobile manufacturing companies will be coming out with their quarterlies soon and many in the automaker industry as well as the consultants and analysts are saying that this is not going to be pretty. Both Ford and General Motors are expected to lose money, but how much? Are we looking at more bankruptcies like the Delphi Auto parts company, which was spun off from GM in 1999? Some analysts are already saying that there is a 30% chance of a General Motors Bankruptcy filing. But North American and United States automakers have had issues with an already growing gap of 3.5% market share against Japanese Automakers due to the consumer move to smaller and more economical vehicles.

LIVE THE LIFE OF AN ENTREPRENEUR THIS SUMMER
SU LIFE Offers High School Students a Hands-on Look at the Business WorldSELINSGROVE, (Pa.) â The world of business is a rapidly changing global environment. At Susquehanna University, the Leadership Institute For Entrepreneurship (LIFE) engages high school students in studies and experiences that foster interests in business careers. The weeklong program, slated for Saturday through Friday, July 7-13, offers students a unique hands-on introduction to the decision-making components of entrepreneurship.
Sponsored, in part, by Toyota USA, LIFE introduces students to finance, banking, stock and bond markets, sales, advertising, global trade issues, and, most importantly, the significance of effective collaboration. In short, the students live the life of an entrepreneur. In a simulated entrepreneurial setting, the students live as real business owners do, working in teams, starting and running their own businesses, and handling the success and challenges that new business might throw at them.
High school students entering grades 10 through 12 in the fall are invited to apply. Selection is competitive and based on recommendations, academic skills, leadership qualities, and future career aspirations. All applications must be post-marked no later than June 8, 2007.
Coordinated by Assistant Professor of Management Leann Mischel, and run by faculty and staff affiliated with the universityâs Sigmund Weis School of Business, with assistance from Susquehanna students, the LIFE program structures time for leadership, entrepreneurship, and working with others, time for team building, and time for creating relationships and having fun. Highlights of the week will include visits to Knoebels Grove Amusement Resort and Hershey Park, a tour of the Harley Davidson plant, a session on dining etiquette, an ice cream social and a talent show. For more information, visit http://www.susqu.edu/life/.
