As an outgrowth of the research and development efforts in its propellant business, Talley was a pioneer in the development of the automotive airbag. The company sold its airbag business in 1989 under a contract which allowed Talley to re-enter the automotive airbag business after April 21, 1994.

Talley Defense Systems, a Mesa, Ariz.-based company, designs, develops, tests and manufactures high reliability propellant-related components and sub-systems used in military aircraft and missiles, as well as ordnance systems.
