What is a good automotive book to use when you need instructions on fixing a pontiac?

GG asked:

I need an instruction guide so I can install a window motor on my pontiac. I need to find a book that will tell me step by step how to do it. It would be a plus if it had pictures because I’ve never done anything like this before. I’d rather learn instead of paying $500.

The best books to buy are factory service manuals. A haynes manual makes a good compliment to the FSM as it uses more laymens terms.

Otherwise, you can ask questions on this website:

GG, I don’t blame you. There are many manuals out there. The best of all is those service manuals by the manufacturer. They are available from??? I think it is HELMS PUBLICATIONS …….Don’t remember exactly, they should be on the Internet. If not, any of your friends with a new car of any kind you will find in the back of their owners manual the address. All manufacturers us the same publisher. Cost…about $70.00. If that is too steep you can get the next best MOTORS manual. cost…..about $55.00 Next best is MITCHELL automotive repair manual cost……about $45.00….CLYMER and CHILTON’S are not as good cost…about $20.00.. If you buy a cheap manual ask to see the section on door/window repair. If does not have what you want, don’t bother…….You might have good luck at your local library. A lot of them stock good to better auto repair manuals..Any more info. ,contact me. My greatest knowledge, unfortunately, is Ford… Good luck P.S. Watch the very sharp edges in the inside of the door…

The conversion factors so wonder how reliable they really are.
